My name is Sutapa Roy
I was born and brought up in Kolkata, India.
I am a self taught storytelling photographer who believes photography is a strong medium that can shape up the thoughts, opinions and ideas of a society maintaining the ethical value, as maintained in every work culture. “Experimenter Learning Program/Module – III: New Directions” (workshop), conducted by Sohrab Hura (Magnum Associate Photographer) 2018, and attended the same. I have been selected as a participant in Angkor Photo Workshop in the year 2019 and attended the same. Selected to attend New York Portfolio Review Program 2020, attending the same. (This year participants will be attending the program in 2021)
My works were exhibited at Gudberg Nerger Gallery(Germany),Indian Photo Festival at State Art Gallery(Hyderabad), Auckland Festival of Photography at Bruce Mason Centre(New Zealand),
Story projected in Angkor Photo Festival 2019 and “Bongalingone Manobdarshan” at Gallery Gold (Kolkata).
My primary focus now is to improve my storytelling skill by exploring different ideas and finding new directions. I am currently working on three social and personal projects in and around West Bengal, India.
